About This Product

Not every piece of calligraphy needs to command a room. Some are meant to sit quietly on a wall and meet you in a gentle moment — when you glance up from a book, pause between prayers, or simply breathe. This piece features the iconic verse from Surah Ar-Rahman — "Fabi ayyi ala'i rabbikuma tukazziban" — written in clean Naskh script using hand-mixed indigo ink on cold-pressed watercolour paper. The background features soft, organic watercolour washes in muted tones — dusty blues, soft greys, and whispers of blush — creating a sense of calm that complements the meaning of the words. Unlike our gold leaf pieces which carry a sense of grandeur, this work is intentionally softer. The watercolour bleeds and textures are embraced as part of the art — each wash is unrepeatable, making every piece genuinely one of a kind. The calligraphy is written with a traditional reed pen in Naskh — the most readable of all Arabic scripts. Chosen deliberately so that anyone who reads Arabic can engage with the verse directly, not just admire the form. Framed in a clean white or natural oak frame with a wide mat board, giving the watercolour room to breathe within the glass. Dimensions: Available in A4 (21×30cm) and A3 (30×42cm). What's Included: Framed calligraphy on watercolour paper, certificate of authenticity. Care Instructions: Display away from direct sunlight and moisture. Watercolour is light-sensitive — UV-protective glass is included in the frame.

Craftsmanship

This piece was born on a rainy Tuesday morning in the studio. We were experimenting with watercolour washes as backgrounds — something we'd never offered before — and this particular combination of indigo ink on a soft blue-grey wash stopped us mid-stroke. The way the ink sat on the wet paper created edges that felt alive — not controlled, not accidental, but somewhere in between. We wrote the verse from Ar-Rahman because the words felt right for the mood — gentle, repetitive, a quiet insistence on gratitude. The watercolour medium strips away the grandeur of gold leaf and replaces it with something more intimate. This isn't a piece that impresses visitors. It's a piece that comforts the person who lives with it.
